While the Chinese economy emerged relatively smoothly from its self-imposed zero-COVID policy this year, it faces a number of headwinds that could make it difficult to return to the pace of growth it enjoyed prior to the pandemic. In this webinar, we will discuss what the recent 'Two Sessions', the meetings by the National People's Congress and the Chinese People's Political Conference, imply for the direction of policy, as well as the medium-term outlook for the economy, including the implications of the evolving geopolitical environment and some of the internal structural challenges it faces.
Speaker:
George Magnus, Research Associate, University of Oxford’s China Centre and School of Oriental and African Studies, London; Author of Red Flags: Why Xi’s China Is in Jeopardy
Moderator: Yael Selfin, Chief Economist, KPMG in the UK; Chair, NABE International Roundtable
