Climate Change, Risk and Insurance: How the Landscape for Risk is Evolving and Implications for Commercial Real Estate Investors/Owners

Join the CRE Roundtable to learn about how forecasters are accounting for climate risk, and specifically, how key segments of the economy for commercial real estate are affected, including the insurance sector. According to NCREIF, insurance costs in commercial real estate have climbed from an average of 3% of operating expenses in 2018-19 to 6.9% in Q1 2024, with increases most acute for multifamily. We will dig further into the latest trends driving this, how it varies for each major asset type in the commercial property markets and what to expect moving forward.

Speakers:

  • Chris Lafakis, Director, Moody’s Analytics
  • Danielle Lombardo, Managing Director, Willis Towers Watson
  • Moderator: Rebecca Rockey, NABE Commercial Real Estate Roundtable Co-Chair; Deputy Chief Economist, Global Head of Forecasting, Cushman & Wakefield
