The Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) Consumer Expenditure Surveys (CE) are the most detailed source of expenditures, income, and demographics collected directly from households by the U.S. Federal government. The CE has twenty years of free microdata available online covering years 1996 – 2015. On July 19-21, the CE program is hosting a free Microdata Users’ Workshop at BLS headquarters in Washington, DC. The sessions are geared to microdata users of all levels of experience from "never used" to expert.

The Economic Measurement Seminar is a component of the Certified Business Economist® (CBE) program, the certification in applied economics and data analytics, and qualifies for 13 credit hours of continuing education for CBEs. EMS sessions that are part of the CBE core curriculum have been highlighted.
