Join us for a conversation on prospects for productivity growth in the US and Europe after the COVID-19 crisis. New research from the McKinsey Global Institute finds that some firms responded boldly during the pandemic, acting in ways that could accelerate productivity growth such as shifting rapidly to online channels, automating production tasks, increasing operational efficiency, and speeding up decision making. Annual productivity growth could accelerate by about 1 percentage point to 2024, but the shock of the pandemic and firms’ response could exacerbate long-run demand drags and compromise that potential. The experts will discuss what business leaders and policymakers can do to sustain and spread innovation and other advances that can potentially increase productivity growth, and support demand.
