NABE’s Writing Skills for Business Economists and Analysts course provides essential skills and tools needed for effective communication of technical information to clients and end users of varying levels of sophistication. More course information

Participants are encouraged to bring a one-to-three page writing sample with them to the course. Your writing sample will be used throughout the day in various activities to identify and modify for the following:

  • Audience, is it appropriate
  • Purpose Statement
  • Document organization for readability and flow
  • Documents clarity and conciseness
  • Identifying your voice
  • Document layout and design

To get the most out of this class, please bring a sample of something you are working on or have recently written. While many organizations use template-driven documents, we do not recommend that for the class exercises.

About the Instructor


Emilie Booth has over 30 years' experience in training development/delivery and organizational development for a wide variety of clients across the country, including Chevron Corporation, Shell Oil Company, JP Morgan Chase Bank, Duke Energy, US Physical Therapy, Inc. and Halliburton. Prior to starting her own company, Ms. Booth was the human resources manager for a large financial institution with employees nationwide. Ms. Booth was responsible for all phases of the human resources function, including the development and delivery of the staff and management training used by her employer. Ms. Booth holds a degree from the University of Texas at Austin and a master’s degree from the University of Houston.
