NABE Fantasy Baseball League
Put your statistical training together with your knowledge of baseball and sign up for the second season of the NABE Fantasy Baseball League.
Last year's league was at CBS Sportsline, with eight active members. We are looking for expansion for this year.
You don't need to know anything about Fantasy Leagues - but you will need to know something about baseball.
- You will have a "team" drafted from major leaguers, and the results depend on what your team does (hits, homers, strike-outs, etc) during the regular baseball season.
- A good league will have about 12 to 15 participants (if more sign up we can have multiple leagues.)
- The league itself will be hosted at one of the fantasy sites (CBS Sportsline, ESPN, or Yahoo, for instance.) All the statistical tracking, results, etc are handled by the site. A nominal charge for each participant ($10 or $15 for a whole season) would be needed on one of the better sites. The 2006 league was played at the CBS Sportsline site, with a deluxe site provided for free by a NABE member.
- If you've never played before, a minimal time comittment would be two to ten hours spread out around the two weeks or so near the league draft. Once the season has started and you have set your lineup, you can let the team run without intervention if need be. A typical owner may spend five minutes a day on his/her team, although even that isn't needed.
If you are interested, send an email to Bruce Kratofil. At the beginning of March, we can reach a consensus as to the type of draft to have.
See CBS Sportsline, ESPN or Yahoo for more information about fantasy baseball.
NABE Fantasy Baseball - sometimes a batting average is just as important as GDP!
[Please note: although the league is open to NABE members, it is not a part of NABE membership, nor will it draw on NABE resources. ]
